"If we are to move from a culture of war to a culture of peace then we will have to unite around the most fundamental issue that humanity faces – the protection of each other and our environment. 21st September is the starting point. Individuals can make a difference. By working together there will be Peace One Day."

Inspiring us towards deeper connection with ourselves and our communities

The mission of the Vermont Yoga Festival is twofold:
to motivate participants to engage in community service through inspiring experiences which offer opportunities for personal growth and new awareness;

to encourage the growth of a collective energy for service projects that catalyze change in areas of the environment, advocacy, homelessness, health and at-risk populations.

The 2nd Annual Vermont Yoga Festival in Montpelier Vermont includes 2 days of workshops and unifying community events on October 15-17, 2010.

The foundation of the 2010 Vermont Yoga Festival is community service. The 2009 Festival raised over $1500 for the Magic House, a local charity providing education for disadvantaged youth. This year, the festival will partner with Vermont College of Fine Arts and proceeds will benefit ReSource and the Magic House.

ReSOURCE's mission is to (1) protect the environment by reducing the amount of reusable and repairable items dumped in landfills, (2) give individuals in transition valuable job skills, technical training, and more opportunity and (3) alleviate the effects of poverty by making vital household goods and building materials available to the poor.

In accordance with the ancient custom of "seva" (Sanskrit for service) yoga festival participants will be offered the opportunity to stretch their bodies as well as their ability to become connected to community service.
